As a lifelong lover of both design and dogs, I often found myself searching for pieces that felt at home within thoughtfully designed interiors. While our homes are filled with objects chosen for their beauty, function, and purpose, the spaces we create for our companions are often treated as an afterthought.

Grover's Lane began with a simple observation: our dogs are part of our everyday lives, yet the objects created for them often overlook the spaces they share with us.

The answer became the Mesa, a dog bed designed as an architectural object for modern animal living — a piece of mid-century-inspired furniture for dogs, not a pet accessory. Thoughtfully proportioned and handcrafted in Melbourne, the bed represents our belief that comfort and beauty can coexist.

Every Mesa is made by hand, to order, using materials chosen with the same care you'd bring to any other piece of furniture in your home; a powder-coated steel frame, a bolster and cushion filled with natural wool and latex, and upholstery drawn from a curated fabric selection. Nothing is mass-produced. Each piece takes 6–8 weeks to complete, time spent on proportion, finish, and the kind of detail that doesn't scale.

Our goal is not to simply make dog beds. It's to refine how dogs live in the modern home, and to create furniture for dogs that honours the companionship, comfort, and quiet joy they bring to our everyday lives. Design shouldn't stop at the edge of the rug, it should extend to every object we share our home with, including the ones our dogs rest on.

"I've always believed that the objects we live with shape the feeling of home. I wanted to create furniture for dogs that belong naturally in the home, made with care, honest materials and an appreciation for how we live together."
